FIFA, the non-profit international governing body for many major football tournaments, has announced that cryptocurrency exchange Crypto.com will be an official sponsor of its next World Cup in Qatar and the competition’s exclusive cryptocurrency trading platform.

FIFA announced on its official website that Crypto.com branding would appear both inside and outside stadiums for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, which begins in November. As part of the sponsorship, the cryptocurrency exchange will provide opportunities for its users to attend matches and win official merchandise.

FIFA’s chief commercial officer, Kay Madati, commented that;

“CRYPTO.COM HAS ALREADY DEMONSTRATED A COMMITMENT TO SUPPORTING TOP-TIER TEAMS AND LEAGUES, MAJOR EVENTS AND ICONIC VENUES ACROSS THE WORLD, AND THERE IS NO PLATFORM BIGGER, OR WITH A GREATER REACH AND CULTURAL IMPACT, THAN FIFA’S GLOBAL PLATFORM OF FOOTBALL,”

Kris Marszalek, the group’s Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer, added:

“WE COULD NOT BE MORE EXCITED TO SPONSOR THE FIFA WORLD CUP, ONE OF THE MOST PRESTIGIOUS TOURNAMENTS IN THE WORLD, AND TO DRIVE FURTHER AWARENESS OF CRYPTO.COM GLOBALLY.

“THROUGH OUR PARTNERSHIP WITH FIFA, WE WILL CONTINUE TO USE OUR PLATFORM IN INNOVATIVE WAYS SO THAT CRYPTO.COM CAN POWER THE FUTURE OF WORLD-CLASS SPORTS AND FAN EXPERIENCES AROUND THE WORLD.”

Given the global popularity of soccer, Crypto.com is likely to reach a more international audience. According to FIFA, more than 3.5 billion people watched the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, with more than a billion watching the final between France and Croatia.

Crypto.com is a cryptocurrency company well-known in the community for its involvement in sports and aggressive sports marketing. This is also the approach adopted by FTX, which has made significant moves in the sports world.
